Customer Loyalty Programs in Odoo#
Loyalty programs reward repeat purchases and increase customer lifetime value. Odoo's built-in loyalty module handles point accrual, tier management, and reward redemption - on both the website and manual sales orders.
Prerequisites#
Apps → eCommerce or Sales → loyalty features are included.
Sales → Configuration → Settings → Pricing → Loyalty Cards and Gift Cards → enable.
Creating a Loyalty Program#
Sales → Products → Gift Cards & Loyalty → Loyalty Cards → New Program:
- Name: VIP Rewards Program
- Program Type: Loyalty Card
Earning Rules:
- Spend $1 = Earn 1 point
- Purchase from Category "Premium": earn 2× points
- First purchase: bonus 50 points
Rewards:
- 100 points = $5 discount on next order
- 500 points = Free shipping
- 1,000 points = 15% discount on entire order
Assigning Programs to Customers#
Customer → Sales & Purchase tab → Loyalty Card: the customer's loyalty card is created automatically on first qualifying purchase.
Loyalty Points on Sale Orders#
When a salesperson creates an order for a loyalty member:
- Loyalty card appears on the sale order
- Points earned = calculated automatically based on earning rules
- Available rewards appear: rep can apply a reward as a discount line
For eCommerce: the customer logs in → loyalty points shown in the cart → redemption options presented at checkout.
Tier-Based Loyalty (VIP Levels)#
Define tiers based on cumulative spending:
| Tier | Minimum Points | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 0 | 1× earning rate |
| Silver | 500 | 1.5× earning rate, free standard shipping |
| Gold | 2,000 | 2× earning rate, free express shipping, dedicated rep |
| Platinum | 5,000 | 3× earning rate, exclusive pricing, priority support |
Customers automatically advance tiers as points accumulate.
Reporting on Loyalty Program Performance#
Sales → Reporting → Loyalty:
- Total points issued vs. redeemed (liability exposure)
- Customer retention rate among loyalty members vs. non-members
- Average order value: loyalty members vs. non-members
- Program ROI: revenue generated from loyalty discounts given
A well-run loyalty program shows: loyalty customers spend 15-25% more and churn 30-40% less than non-members.
